Urban Sanctuary
Urban Planning — Tokyo
Urban Sanctuary reimagines the relationship between density and nature in one of Tokyo's most intense urban neighborhoods. The master plan weaves together residential towers, retail, cultural spaces, and a 2-acre public park.
Rather than treating the buildings as isolated objects, the design creates a continuous landscape experience — green roofs cascade into vertical gardens, streets are narrowed to prioritize pedestrians, and a network of laneways encourages exploration.
The project's mixed-use approach ensures the district is active at all hours, while generous setbacks and sound-dampening facades protect residential privacy. Urban Sanctuary is a model for humane density in the 21st-century city.
